Hope Church is a church family that celebrates God’s grace. In Jesus Christ, and through faith in him, we receive forgiveness for our sins and eternal life of enjoying God’s favor – that is grace!

We are committed to being a church of uncommon unity. We are a church of many ethnicities and backgrounds. We are Hope Church and Hope Church en Español, two expressions of one church united in our love for Jesus Christ.

By living in God’s grace and in unity, we are committed to changed lives. We believe that God’s word and the power of God’s Spirit, working in a gracious church family, will shape us into the people God plans us to be. Though we are far from perfect, we seek to be people who God uses to bring hope to others.

Our Beliefs
 
We believe the Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God and the only rule for faith and our daily living
 
We believe in the triune God who has revealed Himself as one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
 
We believe that all men are sinners and cannot be restored to fellowship to God by any power of their own.
 
We believe that God in love sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and that Jesus rose from the dead, and is now our Mediator with the Father, and that He will return visibly on the last day to judge all men.
 
We believe that God will accept all who repent of their sins and believe that the finished work of Jesus Christ is the only basis for salvation.
 
We find faith beautifully expressed in John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
 

Church Background

Hope Church has as its foundation the Christian Reformed Church, a 150 year old Protestant denomination that emphasizes the centrality of the Bible and the all-powerful care of God.
 
The word reformed means that the church is aligned with that historic branch of Christianity called Presbyterian in Scotland, and Reformed in continental Europe. The denomination has nearly 1000 churches in North America. Many Christians are familiar with Reformed writers R.C. Sproul, Francis Shaeffer, John Stott and Tim Keller.

Senior Pastor

Pastor Greg Brady, a Clear Lake native, has been a pastor since 2001 and has served at churches in Houston and in the greater St. Louis Area.  After receiving an electrical engineering degree from Texas A&M, he followed God’s call into full time pastoral ministry.  He has a Masters of Divinity degree from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.  He and his wife Melissa have five children.  Greg’s passion is to help people walk in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

 

Music

Anita LaVallee Hughes joined the Hope Church staff in the Fall of 1999. During her years at Hope, she has directed the Worship Choir, Children’s Choirs, Teen Ensembles, Praise Team Ministry and the Extended Praise Band.  She oversees music for the Worship Services each week working with various volunteers from the Hope Church family. Anita has a B.A. in Music Education from Milligan College in East Tennessee. Anita and her husband Jonathan have four beautiful and musically talented children.

 

Wilmer and Helen Lopez are the pastors for Hope Church en Español. They have three beautiful children. Raised in Venezuela, they now reside and serve in the Clear Lake area. For ten years they have shepherded the Church of Jesus Christ LUZ DE LA ESPERANZA (Light of Hope). In 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, God opened a way for the to come to Houston to take care of a new plantation. God pointed them to an ideal couple with the leadership and the call for pastoral ministry, who are currently leading the church in Venezuela. The Reformed Church reached out to them and began the process of preparing to to meet the necessary requirements and be able to exercise the pastorate in this nation.
