Position Summary: Part-time 20-30 hours/week.

 The Youth Leader position will grow the youth ministry, reach the unchurched, teach the gospel, engage parents, foster commitment and accountability, impact the local community, and provide an open and welcoming environment for all youth regardless of background. 

 The Youth Leader will lead the Middle School, High School and College/Career ministries, guiding and challenging young people to know Christ in a personal, meaningful way, possessing a passion to disciple and equip them for living a Christ-centered life.  The ideal Youth Leader candidate will be creative and energetic to provide a variety of engaging education, worship, prayer, service and social opportunities.  The Youth Leader will work collaboratively with staff and church leadership, as well as train and coordinate student and adult volunteer leaders. 



 Reports to Senior Pastor and Education Elder(s) via weekly meetings and other formal and informal communication.

  • Will assist supervising student leaders as needed.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

 Initiate, lead and provide oversight of the Middle School and High School, and College-age student programs of Hope Church

  • Evangelize nonbelievers, guide new believers and challenge spiritual development of more mature believers
  • Teach and coach the youth how to become a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ and provide guidance in how to live as a Christian young adult
  • Plan, coordinate and lead special weekly, monthly and annual events that provide age-appropriate opportunities for outreach, service, and spiritual development
  • Nurture spiritual growth of individual students through one-on-one interactions
  • Lead students to Christ; and lead them to live an active, Christian life
  • Recruit and train student and adult volunteer leaders, drawing out and developing their unique abilities
  • Communicate effectively the vision, and related activities, of the Youth Ministry to church leaders and congregation
  • Maintain flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Other duties as agreed upon with the Senior Pastor and Education Elder(s)

 Minimum Qualifications:

        A follower of Jesus, mature in faith and knowledge of the Bible, and faithful to the mission, vision and values of Hope Church.

       Evidence of a vibrant spiritual and prayer life.

       3 years Youth Ministry leadership experience

       Administrative skills – able to organize and effectively execute both simple and complex events/activities; effective project management skills

       Demonstrated skills in timely and effective communication to leaders and congregation (presentations, writing, email, website, etc.)

 We are looking for a leader who can:

  • Encourage, recruit, coordinate, disciple, and develop a team of student leaders; help students develop their own faith as they transition to adulthood; and equip students for living a Christ-centered life
  • Communicate effectively to students of all ages and backgrounds; comfortable with relational evangelism.
  • Inspire students and others to discover and express their gifts, passions, and abilities in fruitful and fulfilling ministries
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment as an independent worker
  • Skillful at building trusting, confidential relationships

 We are looking for a leader who is:

  • Creative and effective at planning and implementing activities and inspiring participation
  • Experienced in developing and coaching student and lay leadership
  • Exhibits characteristics as described in I Timothy 3
  • Able to easily respond to changing demands that impact the daily and weekly schedule

 Desired Qualifications:

        Experience in an established, successful church or school youth program.

       Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in ministry or education

       Music skills

       Possess a knowledge of Christian education principles
