Pastor Roger De Young started Hope Church in February 1986 with a Bible Study group of seven people. He has a master's degree from Calvin Seminary and a doctoral degree from Trinity Evangelical Seminary in Family Ministries. Before founding the church in Clear Lake City, his ministry involvement included starting a Navigator ministry at the University of Connecticut, Pastor at Alger Park Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Chaplain at the Hillcrest International School in Nigeria, West Africa. Martha Carey has been a member of Hope Church since 1991 and is retired from BP Amoco. She has served as a member of the Building Committee, the Care and Fellowship Committee, and has served the congregation as a Deacon. With exceptional organizational skills, Martha currently brings her time and talent to the office of Hope Church as she coordinates and facilitates a busy but personable environment. She enjoys working with people and provides guidance to volunteers who wish to assist in weekly office duties. Anita LaVallee Hughes, Music Director Anita LaVallee Hughes has served at Hope Church as the Minister of Music since November 1999. She has overseen all of the musical responsibilities at the church since that time including the Praise Team Ministry, The Worship Choir Ministry, The Extended Praise Band Ministry, The Audio-Visual Ministry, and the Children of Hope Choirs. Through the years, Anita has directed musicals for Christmas and Easter and supplied exceptional music for the weekly worship services. Outside of Hope Church, Anita has created and directed the 8-member a cappella ensemble, Saved By Grace since 1991 and has performed as the vocalist with the Swing Band “Brass, Rhythm and Reeds” since 1989. |

Donna Hussey, Children's Minister Donna Hussey is serving as our part-time Children's Minister. Having graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in May 2009 with a Master of Arts in Christian Education, Donna comes to Hope Church having surrendered to ministry in 1985. She has served in numerous ministry positions in the local church, and most recently, Parents Day Out Director at Clear Lake Baptist Church. Donna is passionate about students of all ages. Over the last twenty years of ministry, she has worked with preschool, school-age, youth, and college students. Children are VERY important to God’s Kingdom and she desires to be a part of what God is calling us to be: Faithful, Available, Intentional, Teachable, and having a Heart for God. Donna is married to Mark Hussey and together they have three children: Maria, Andrew, and Anna Grace. If you would like to be a part of the Hope Church Children's Ministry Donna has a place for you! She is in need of teachers for Sundays and Wednesdays, encouragers who have the gift of encouraging others (cards, notes, prayer), administrators (who love the details,) and ministry leaders (VBS, Sunday School, special needs).
